The journal Anales de la Escuela Nacional de Medicina, initially published between 1904 and 1908, sought to preserve and disseminate the clinical medicine and surgery lectures from the first, second, and, most importantly, third years of medical school. Coordinated at the time by José Terrés (1864-1924), he compiled, bound, and numbered the lectures of various professors for easy reference. The objective of this work is to provide an overview of the journal and, in particular, to highlight the teachings of José Terrés and Regino González (1853-1933) on the definition of clinical medicine, aspects of professional ethics, methodological rigor, student skills, patient care, and diseases of the time, thereby highlighting the publication’s legacy for current teaching.
